Résumé :
|
Yhis twentieth century social history of the Maradi region of Nigeris based on interviews with women and on archival materials collected in Niger and France. Its shows that Maradi's women have had strikingly different political and economic roles from hausa-speaking women in northernNigeria. Stidies of hausa-speaking women in Nigeria suggest that their participation in the economy has been limited to trade in prepareg foods, and taht particiapation in politics and religion has been defined by islam.
