Résumé :
|
The significance of this study lies in both its subject matter and appoach. The general subject of interest is the character and impact of the modern state in Niger. Of specific concern, however, are three neglected area in the study of the new states of Africa: the uses of power, and not just the struggle for power; the role played by the polity in shaping the economy; and the impact of the state on those at the bottom-in this particular case the rural farmers of the Magaria district.
